PCA Maverick Auto Cross: Texas Motor Speedway, 10-17&18-98

The Maverick Region of Porsche Club of America set up a two day event at the Texas Motor Speedway's west parking lot. Saturday (rainy, windy & cool) was a 'high-speed' event, we saw speeds go to 95 in one section. They run it as a closed circuit on Saturdays, which means 1 warm-up & 3 hot laps, all consecutive! Sunday was a 'regular' auto-cross. Most of the regular drivers said it was rather 'straight' compared to other layouts. Special thanks to PCA organizers Les & Laura for having us out & Mitch Williams for finally getting us motivated to do it. Most of us are now addicted! As an added bonus, we got to drive on the Texas Motor Speedway itself. The pace car drove about 90mph, we managed to go a _little_ faster. :P
